My name is Justin Manning and I am the current president of SVOSH at Ohio State.  Brian was unfortunately unable to go on the trip to Nicaragua  due to a mishap with is passport at the airport.  Due to this, I was appointed as president of SVOSH for this next year.  Our trip to Nicaragua was very successful.  In the four days of clinic, we saw 1,853 patients and had 25 student doctors on the trip.  We were all touched and moved by the poverty in the area and yet the joy the patients still had.  Global Infusion was an awesome group to work with.  They had everything set up for us and the whole trip went very smoothly.  They tend to be a bit more expensive to work with because they tend to put us up in nicer hotels (ours had A/C) and have nicer meals for us.  Overall though, it was an awesome trip and their organization made things go incredibly smoothly.  If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask!

This trip is being led by Dr. Ryan Fenska, Dr. Kaila Osmotherly, and Dr. Sarah Gallagher.  There are 7 optometry students going.
The team saw over 300 patients but could have easily seen many more.  Unfortunately, there was little to no advertising for the optometric trip.  This was the first optometric mission to the Refuge International Clinic site so we hope to continue to build this relationship and help many more people in Sarstun in the future.
