California Middle School collect eyeglasses for Haiti
The AOA Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Samuel D. Pierce as liaison to VOSH/International for 2009-2010 .
VOSH/International received a grant of $30,000 from Optometry Giving Sight to build a non profit optometry clinic at the optometry school of Xochilcalco University in Tijuana, Mexico. Project Director is Dr. Greg Pearl, President of VOSH/International.
Nigerian's two VOSH chapters at UNIBEN and ABIA schools of optometry each received a Welch Allyn scope set, 2 tonometers, 2 104 lens sets, 2 trial frames, a manual edger, a portable lensometer, a Lea Chart and a standard chart. They were presented to Drs. Faustina Udu and Uduak Udom at the 2009 Annual Meeting.

Dr. Larry Hookway attended the General Delegates Meeting of WCO presided by incoming president, Professor George Woo on June 5, 2009 in Melaka, Malaysia. Essilor supported VOSH/International partcipation.
La Salle Colombia School of Optometry chapter was ratified (SVOSH-LA SALLE) at the 2009 annual meeting.
VOSH-Southeast is now the regional chapter for Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and South Carolina.

Dr. Ruth McAndrews past president of VOSH/International was appointed liaison to VISION 2020/USA. Dr. McAndrews will represent V/I at the Second Annual General Meeting on Thursday, April 22, 2010
The NEVOSH Charity Golf Tournament was a huge success. Ninety six players came out to enjoy a picture perfect day of golf. To date the event has brought in over $17,000. The funds raised will be used to support the dental, medical, audiology, and eye sections of Northeast
VOSH as well as build a foundation to provide student sponsorship on future missions.
Dr. Douglas Weiss '89 and Dr. Victoria Molnar Weiss '89 received the Alumni of the Year Award from SUNY for their commitment to public service through their volunteer work in the United States and internationally with VOSH-VA.
Nicaragua Project, funded by Walman Optical is underway. Chaired by Dr. Greg Pearl, President whose objective is to establish a sustainable eye clinic and optical lab in a strategic location during 2010 that effectively reaches poor communities.

Mr. Max Bruss of VOSH-Southeast received the VOSH/International Humanitarian Award of The Year, 2009.
Drs. Greg Pearl, Christine Smith and Larry Hookway were elected Fellow of VOSH/International (FVI).
Dr. Nelson Rivera, Director of VOSH/International was appointed ICEE Liaison for Latin America.
Foreign Schools of Optometry receiving equipment from VOSH are in Peru, Guyana. Nigeria and Nicaragua.
Dr. Dale Cole, past president of VOSH/International was appointed Historian of VOSH/International.
Eighty three missions were reported in 2009.
VOSH Mentorship Program study to help optometry students in foreign countries will be led by Dr. Patti Fuhr.
Dr. Marcella Frazier will implement a program to encourage the optometry students to work in sustainable projects.
VOSH-Florida received a grant from VOSH/International to provide trial lens sets and retinoscopy racks to the five Peruvian schools of optometry. Dr. Robert Barr will teach Peruvian students retinoscopy.
The Esther Kahn Foundation will have a greater role in supporting the Technical Transfer Program deliver equipment to optometry schools in developing countries as donations.
Dr Mike DeRosier, VOSH/International director was appointed Chair of the Technical Transfer Program.
Technical Transfer Program of restoring and distribution of used equipment is a collaboration with VOSH-Southeast.
VOSH/International furthered a partnership with IMEC, International Medical Equipment Collaborative. Object is to harvest equipment for schools, clinics and hospitals.
Chapter are asked to update "mission date, destination, leader and leader email".
Derrick Feifke, OD, president of VOSH-ONE and a regular Boston Marathon runner ran for VOSH-ONE April 2 2009 celebrating age fifty.The 113th marathon will be April 20, 2009.
